5.9 The judgement seat of Christ - the final test, and celebration
For thousands of years, the people of the kingdom of God have looked forward to the "day of the Lord" when God finally comes forth and deals with evil. To accomplish this, God has established his Son, Jesus Christ, as the king and righteous judge of the whole universe.
The judgement will occur in two parallel and simultaneous chains of events, one in the heavens, and one on the earth. Christ begins by allowing his angels to cast the Devil down to earth. Next, he takes up his Bride to himself in the heavens.
In the heavens above the earth, the church, Christ's Bride, is gathered before him:
- First comes the judgement seat of Christ when every person receives a just reward for their deeds on earth. We call this the final exam in the school of life, where everyone receives their place in Christ's government during the millennium. (See illustrations 4.7, 4.8 and their notes)
- Afterwards, a great celebration begins for the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, and his Bride. In order to fully demonstrate victory over the Devil, the celebration is held in the heavens above the earth, which used to be the headquarters of the Devil. (Revelation 12:11-12; Ephesians 2:2)
